A web-based annotation tool that I developed in order to annotate metadiscourse phenomena. The tool is developed in PHP using the Symfony framework. The code is available in my Github repository, where you can also see a few screenshots. Whilst the tools still works, it is no longer supported. It uses Symfony 2, which has been deprecated long time ago. I believe it would take a significant amount of time to port the tool to the latest Symfony framework. However, get in touch if you would like to try to do it.

There are many other much more powerful tools available out there that can be used for the same purposes (and can do many other things as well). The main focus of this tool was to be able to run on a cheap hosting (all you needed was PHP and MySQL available) and to be easily customisable by people without much technical expertise. The tool was successfully employed by Marisa Carrio Pastor from University of Valencia to annotate a range of phenomena.

This page is for archival purposes only. I stopped the active development of the tool around 2020 due to lack of time. This page was last modified on 23rd March 2025.
